Hi I have been offered a basic KXTD 1232 and the vendor is not able to make me understand few requirements please help me out.
1. I need a system with 8 Co lines and 32 Extensions. what do i need for it.
2. I need Caller Id on all 32 Extensions. what do i need for it
3. I shall install 4 panasoninc KTS 7730 instrument and the other 28 WOULD BE NON PANASONIC SLT phones. WOULD I GET CALLER ID in non slt caller id phones.
4. IMPORTANT: As all the 28 SLTs would be of different makes=corded, cordless etc, they will all have different Flash time.. I hope the flash times will work fine in the system. is it possible to programme Flash time for all extensions.
5. IS IT Multilevel DISA or voice mail or autoattendant- I need a system where a an outside caller is received by a welcome message- and during this welcome message the caller should be able to to the speciic Extension which he wishes for...BUT the catch is..if the extension is BUSY he shoudl get a busy message and then the caller should be able to go to some oher extension of his choice..and if it is busy or is not responsing then also he has the choice of going anywhere . SO what is it basically i require for this...DO i need autoattendant card or voice mail card or anything else. i am not interested in voice mail recording etc!
6. GSM direct inward....MOST OF MY CALLS are from GSM cellular phones and after the welcome message the caller shall be pressing the buttons of his GSM cell phone. I found that most of the system fail in dicerting the call when the dtmf tomes are sent from GSM phones... I need a systme which is GSM DTMF friendly. only few KTS and EPabxs could handle GSM DTMF in an efficent manner. some say there is echo so there is problem, some say there is frequency problem ..i keep on hearing lame excuses..
7. DISA OR DOSA what ever it is called...I need a system where in when a caller gets a weccome message- by pressing some codes he shoudl be able get DIAL TONE of specific CO lines and then he shodl be able to dial from that number easily outside. the caller may call from gsm phone or landline...most of the time what happens is- after pressing the desired codes, the desired CO dialtone in not received and the bell rings at the default location..whcih causes inconvenience...and also most of the times if that specific desired CO line is busy..the caller should get a message that the desired line is busy and he should try some other CO line or disconnect.
Please help me with these specific queries.
regards, Sanjay Sachdeva

You will probably need to explore another system as the KX-TD has been discontinued. As for some basic assistance:
1. You will need a KX-TD1232 basic KSU, (comes 8X16) equipped with the following expansion modules:
(2) KX-TD193 caller ID modules (4 lines each) (2) KX-TD170 station expansion modules (8 stations each)
2. Station-level caller ID can be provided to only one station per expansion module if the KX-TD171 module is used. The caller ID station must be connected to the first or second port on the 171. In essence, you can only have two single-line devices with caller ID on this system and only if KX-TD modules are installed. No stations on the main KSU can offer this feature.
3. You will be able to receive caller ID on any KX-T7730 or KX-TD7430 phones, but only on two single-line phones as mentioned above.
4. Station-level flash time is a fixed system feature and there aren't many choices. Most commercially available single-line devices operate in the 500-700 Msec range, so all should be OK.
5. In order to receive separate no answer and busy messages via automated attendant, you will need to have an external KX-TVP or KX-TVS voice mail system connected through digital ports (DPITS) and use supervised transfer.
6. As for GSM, I can't help you on that except to say that you will have a hard time getting any manufacturer to commit to guaranteed tone recognition. There are too many variables.
7. DISA is definitely available that will permit dialing back out of the system after entering a password. A CO line must be dedicated for this function. As for informing a local station as to the absence of local dial tone, this isn't possible. The caller may wait for a preset timer to expire and receive another dial tone to attempt a second call under the original password. The expansion card required for this feature is the KX-TD191.
Your requirements are unique to say the least, but unfortunately, you may need to invest in multiple products from various manufactureres in order to bring such a setup into action.

if you want to have all the bells and whistles you are more in the realm of the KX-TDA 100 if configuired properly you can get caller-id on single line sets.

Sanjay, Suggest you post your requirements in the Mitel section also. My employer is a Panansonic dealer and the 1232 is not suitable. TDA 100 will probably do the job. BUT, in the end, Ed is right, GSM cell phones, and pretty much any type of cell phone is going to be 'iffy' at best. Think about how often the person on a cell phone sounds 'odd' temporarily. I'll be curious to hear if you find a system that fulfills your needs and is reliable 95% of the time. John C.
