I purchased a Panasonic DBS 308 Key system on ebay; it came with a vb-42210 phone for programming. I downloaded some manuals from the web (the appear to be the right ones) and I find instructions to put it into programming mode thus: Use attendant stations (I presume this is extensions 10,11, the first and 3rd pair on the 25pair connector), then hit: ON/OFF; PROG; # #; then a One-Touch key. As soon as I hit the first # button, the phone starts giving me a busy signal. What am I doing wrong?
Question #2: I have no battery. I assume this is just a lead-acid 6v battery and it plugs into the connectors where shown. However, there is no polarity marked so I ask: 1) what is the polarity; and 2) what size (AH) is the battery (or what range)?
Question #3: Anyone know the part # for me to look for an SMDR adapter and where a good source is for one?

1. Have you tried Prog * * (instead of # #). 2. Those are preparatory battery's, just use a goood UPS. 3. You may check the Equipment listing on this site.
The "DBS" 308 was a preparatory sytem that Panasonic sold only through dealers. They discontinued it around 4 years ago and do not offer support.
Thanks for the suggestion and the help. I just tried Prog * * but get same beep-pause-beep-(repeat...) busy signal... In fact, I don't even get to the 2nd # or * before it starts beeping at me. On/Off; Prog; * or # and it's beeping.
Can any one confirm that station 10, 11 (the first and third pairs on the punchdown block) are the correct attendent/programming stations?

X10 is the white/blue pair. You will not be able to program the sytem with a 42210. A 42213 or 43233 (display) phone is mandatory. I've never tried to enter programming via a 42210, there is no point. No display = no programming guidance.
Thanks for the responses, I very much appreciate it.
Ok, I am definately on the blue/white pair, that's good.
Hmmmm.... The KSU is model VB-42010. I've got a downloaded manual that specifically calls out this part #, and it shows picture of the same 42010 phone except the display. Regardless of the guidance, I assume that you can program it... I'll certainly look for one of the display phones on ebay and see if that works.... I'd love to know if anyone knows if this is mandatory to program or just extremely inconvenient...
