We recently installed a TDA200 with 70+ phones all 7600 series phones. The customer started complaining of a squelching tone coming out of the speaker phone on only 8 of the sets. The phones are on 4 different cards sdo I believe that we can rule out a bad card. We have swapped all 8 phones with no resolution. Has anybody heard of this issue before? Panasonic tech support seems to believe that it is an environmental issue. We have tried all that we know to try, our next step is going to be changing out the processor and changing cards one by one. Please help if you can.
Thanks

Is this all the time or only in specific areas at specific times?
I doubt if it's the processor or the cards.
What's the signal strength look like?
I too would again at the environmental issue or the phones. Have you thought of swapping 2 of the bad sets with 2 that don't do it?
You'll have to re-address everything and that could be a PITA but it should rule out if it's the phone.

Thanks for the quick reply.
It is happening pretty intermittenly. It is all in one general area. There is a bullpen of about 16 phones and 2 offices all in the same area that do it but only 6 phones of the 16 do it and the 2 offices. We have a TDA in our office and we swapped sets that we have in use in our office for a few of the phones that are doing it there. The ones in our office are not having the issue and the ones that we took over there from our office are now having the issue. Any ideas of what we can do to check for environmental issues? RF scanner or anything along those lines?
Thanks

No, all phones are independent of each other.

Have you moved the cards around to see if it follows?

can you run out a couple of temp cables along the floor to some of these phones to see if the problem is with the cables in the ceiling.(maybe some electrical equip in the ceiling might be causing the problem) flouresant lights and neon sign transformers can cause problems like yours.

I have had Flourecent lights with a ballast going bad cause weird noises on the TD1232 systems before. Sometimes turning off the lights makes it go away.

All cable is required to be in conduit in Las Vegas so we don't have issues with lighting, etc? It doesn't happen on all phones, is intermittent and is happening in private offices, open sales floor and warehouse areas.

This might be a long shot, but is there a music source connected to the system? If NOT, could it be that the background music feature is active (with no music of course) and the music port in the KSU is picking up the noise? A pretty simple test is to connect a cable to the music input and short it out to kill any potential RF that it might be picking up.
