This is installed in a residence. The homeowner wants the Caller ID log, but all phones ring on an inbound call. As I understand it, calls are only logged if a call is directed to an individual extension or a group.

Is this correct and is there a work-around?

Make CID buttons on all phones for the group that rings in.
IE-- lines ring to 601.
In console, under ext-flex buttons, make a Call Log button with floating ext being 601.
Set log size under ext options.

Having a similar problem with call logs - except the call log button is already programmed at each extension and the problem is only calls answered at that extension are logged there. Before installing the voice mail, any unanswered calls would go to the 601 log, but now that the voice mail answers the calls, those "unanswered" calls don't seem to be logged anywhere.
How do you set up the system to allow all calls, answered or not, to be viewed from every extension regardless of who answered it?

you have to set intercept routing for
group 601 to voicemail . i'll bet that the voicemail picks up right away now right?

Release 4.0 adresses this problem.
1.3.3 Call Log, Incoming – Incoming call information can now be stored in the call logs of both the ICD Group and the answering extension. If a call directed to an ICD group is not answered, the call is logged in the Incoming Call Log of the ICD group. If the call is answered, it is logged in the call log of the answering extension only. Through system programming, it is possible to select which Incoming Call Logs record call information when a member of an ICD group answers a call to the group: Only the Incoming Call Log of the extension that answered the call. Both the Incoming Call Log of the extension that answered the call and that of the ICD Group. System Programming is required for this feature.

I purchased the upgrade, which is just an SD card, but it did not come with a single piece of paper/instructions. Is it as simple as swapping out the cards and then going through system programming? I am going to try this afternoon, but would appreciate any suggestions.

All upgrades for the 848,and voicemail as well as other systems are free on the Panasonic WEB site https://www.kxtdasupport.com/. They also publish what fixes or enhancements come with the new release. I am not allowed to give the password on this WEB site forum even though the Panasonic site is a consumer site (opened to the public). I am sure if you e-mail Panasonic they will send it to you.

You know, the best part of this is if you take the time to RTFM, (you know all the paper goods they pack in the box) you get an offer for online training, the web site address, the login and PASSWORD.

I realize it might be tough to find, since it's an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper titiled TX-TA824 On-Line Training Course.

Go figure.
