I've had a KX-TA624 system installed at home approx 7 years ago with a single KX-T7130 (base station) and eight KX-T7020s. The KX-T7130 has been giving me trouble as of late (static/speakerphone ng) so i bought a KX-T7736 off e-bay. It seems unused although it did not ship with the original box or manuals. I powered down the KX-TA624, disconnected the 7130, connected the 7736, powered up the 624 but no luck with the new 7736. All the other phones failed to power up as well. All is well after an undo. I would appreciate any lead or direction here. Thanks.
Allen

Allen, looking at my compatability chart I see that the KX-T 7736 needs a version 4 if used on the TA624.
Is the system still down or did it come back up?

I saw another post indicating a sticker with "version 4" should be on the side of the 624 id label, which I do not see. So if in fact I do not have a v4 box what are my options? Is it a simple software upgrade to v4? (i'm not a phone tech).

Allen, the sticker should be on there somewhere.
You have to look closely at the sticker.
If it's seven years old I doubt if it's a version 4.
The upgrade is firmware in the form of a chip.
Where did you purchase this from? They should be able to upgrade it for you.

Allen,

Look at it this way. You had a system that you bought 7 years ago and you can upgrade it for maybe a few hundred bucks. Averaged out over 7 years, that's about $3-5 a month. Of course, you could upgrade to the 824 and get USB port programming and compatibility with the new sets and it's plug and play.

The 624 is a computer and changing the chip is like doing it in a computer. Can you do it?
Sure. The second you take posession of the new chip, it's yours.

Your dealer has the documentation and the skills to change the chip and if it doesn't work, it's sort-of his problem. Isn't that worth something to you?
