I have installed a Kxtda 200 with 2 doorphones and release. all is working fine, have 1 touch door opening button on phones to release door when they see some one coming to door on cameras. But now he said his old system could release the door even if he was on a call with out holding call or hanging up, just press the button and it opened.

I have put second handset at reception, but they want to do this at any extension.

Any ideas how to overcome this

Thanks
Ken

Perhaps an external pushbutton at designated locations wired in parallel to the door strike contacts?

No, doesn't want to do any more wiring.
He's last system done it so why can't this is what he's saying.
This could be a take it back one.

Let's hope not.......

Do you know what system he had before? I don't know of any system that does (or did) that function, although it is a nice feature to have.

He had a toshiba.

With digital telephones it should be easy to give this option.

The problem is he wants to hit this button when on a outside call with out doorphone calling or having to hold the call he's on

OK, I know this is going to sound a bit wacky, but hear me out. What if you configure a CO line using a 24 volt filtered power supply to control a relay when that CO line is taken off-hook? In other words, when I press the button for line "4", current flows through the CO port and activates the relay's coil. You could even get fancy and have this relay be a time-delay type that will only close the contacts for a fixed period of time.

Now, I am on an existing call and want to activate the relay. I can press the CONF button, select line "4" and press CONF again. If done quickly enough, nobody would notice unless there is music on hold. I can then drop the conference once the door has been opened by simply pressing the line that the outside caller is on.

I know it's a stretch, but I think it might be your only solution with that system.
