Is it possible to use the xdp port on the digital telephone to add a loud bell for that extension? This phone is in a quonset with machinery going. Thanks.

Sure, as long at the extension port for that phone is set up for "parallel" connect. You will then have ringing voltage at the XDP jack, allowing the connection of any commercial loud-ringing device or even strobe lights.

Thanks very much for the reply. I don't work on Panasonics very often but I like the 816's & 1232's. Too bad they stopped making them.

NightWolf, I would recommend getting one that is AC powered, not line powered. use the XDP simply to activate it. Also as Ed said, don't forget to activate the pararllel connect at that extension. At that extension press intercom, 391 and leave it set. Do not turn on the XDP for that port or it will be a seperate extension. MrG
