This is a bit long winded, please bear with me.
Looking for some help on what would seem to be a pretty simple feature. We have been a TDA dealer since they introduced the line. Most of my customers have been pretty satisfied with the system so far. I recently installed (upgraded from a 624)a TDA50 in a high end residence (read - high maintainence customer).
I explained the procedure for joining a conversation - (press line in use, when message "line busy" appears, ,press "3").
The wife absolutely does not want to press any additional keys when performing excecutive busy override. She is threatening to have me remove the system & re install her 624. When she wishes to join an existing conversation, she would like to simply press the co button for the line in use (as they were able to do on their previous 624 system). I did call tech support & was told that I can not get rid of the need to press a button (default is "3") I could, however, change the default "3" to any other digit if I wished.
Now here's the problem - They claim to have been visiting with friends who claim to have the same system and that their installer went around to each extension & set a feature that aliminates the need to perform an executive busy override.

I am meeting them at their home this evening and would appreciate any info that might help this situation.
Thanks in advance,
Patrick

I appreciate the creative reply, but they are using 3 CO's, all of which would have to have the same process in place. The display phones throughout are mostly 7667's which only have 12 buttons to begin with - already taken with CO's, call log, page all & a few DSS.
I like your idea though - I'll probably use that some where.
Any other ideas out there???

hey i feel for you but if pan tech can't wave
their magic wand you may have to bite the bullet and put in another co card to accomodate
barge in buttons its better than pulling the system out...

How about programming a button to do the Barge -in? Not being very familiar with the TDA, I'm just throwing out what I'd do w/Mitel. And is there any way to do away with 'privacy' system wide? Sounds like what they had set up on the 624. Sorry, just reaching for the proverbial straw. smile John C. (Not Garand)

Can't get rid of Privacy system wide. You might program a button but you would need one for each CO line. Pgm-button-xxx-p-3.
xxx could be single line access code or group code.
Otherwise SNC'S thought looks best.
Maybe someone else has an idea???

Thanks for the suggestions, meeting was pushed to tomorrow night so I have an additional day to figure something out.
Until now all of my clients have been OK with the standard feature. The biggest issue for me is the home owners friend that is bragging of their dealer being able to program the same system for no exec busy over ride. I strongly suspect that they do not have the same system.

With this client, probably no explanation will suffice, they want what they want.

I definitely do not want to have to remove the system.

Thanks again,
Patrick

And of course, the 77XX phones resemble the 76XX phones well enough that your customer thinks they are the same phone! frown John C.
