Hi.. we have a 7896 cordless set used by our receptionist when she needs to 'roam' from her desk. All is well when she takes it away. Problem is when she is at her desk, with a digital set at hand as well as the cordless sitting in the charger as well, if she performs a 'page' ('all call page' - 33*) usually from the digital set (but same from either phone), feedback ensues between the two phones since they are in such close proximity and the cordless has a paging speaker.
Although there is a nice menu option to turn off the ringer when in the charging base, there doesn't seem to be anything (obvious) to turn off the paging speaker. Ideally it would be disabled when in the charger, but I need to find some way to kill the pager on the cordless. It is unnecessary anyway and is causing this issue.
Does anyone know any way - system, extension or handset programming - to kill the paging speaker function on the KX-TD7896 cordless set (attached to a KX-TD1232)??
Thanks!

Easy out would be power off 7896 when not needed. Press Red button a few seconds till off. Turn on when you leave desk. Or turn off paging if you don't need it when roaming. Intercom 7211 Deny paging recption, 7210 Allow.

Paging deny is what I'm looking for! I see it's in my manual too on 4-110. Only one problem - it doesn't seem to work.. I get to the 721.. and my phone reads 'Not Valid' and sounds a fast busy. Does this need to be enabled in system programming, or is it limited by COS or something? The manual page doesn't say anything, but obviously something is preventing it.. Thanks!

thanks, but I would much rather actually solve the problem.. the paging group might do it, but for the fact there are countless phones and people that have been programmed for years with the all call page code, and changing that would be a monumental undertaking. More so of course the people, than the phones.. Putting the handset somewhere else isn't really an option - the user kind of needs it at her desk to grab when going somewhere. seems it would be best if the deny paging function was working.. but alas it's not. any ideas why that is?

Jason, if the TD1232 is a pre -3 it will not have "station paging dney" I would suggest that you put those 2 phones, (the attendant desk set and the cordless 7896) in different extension groups. Say group 2 and all others can be in group 1 and start using 331 for your page code. MrG

cordless PITS is an option, it didn't seem to do anything. what difference(s) SHOULD that option make?

The paging is done via 33* All Call Page because the external pager is used in addition to the groups. Also like I mentioned it although I could reprogram everyone's page buttons, it would take a very long time for all the people who 'just dial it' to page to change their dialing habit. VERY unfortunately, it is a free-for-all on paging here, with everyone paging everyone, not just reception My dash number is a whole different question.. I have attempted to determine that before, only to be frustrated.. my firmware seems to indicate a -3, but various features seem to indicate -4, -2. It is not consistant.
