Does anybody know a fix for low audio on outbound calls for the KXTE 308(ie the called party cannot hear you) The system is new but fron previous experience of KXT's, the handsets could be tweaked to turn up gain.

have heard of low call on inbound but not on outbound audio. Have you put a set on the line in front of the unit and made a few calls to check line

Yes, checked the lines with testphone and they're fine. The system before was a Hicom 110 and they had no probs with volume levels. I have also asked BT (bless them) to turn up the gain on the lines but no difference. I had the same problem when Panasonic first brought out the KXT series(early '90s), but this was solved by tweaking the pot screw underneath the keyset (eg KXT7130)I can't be the only dealer who has this complaint..................can I ????????????

Just an observation, late 80's, early 90's was when FET transmitters really hit the market. They were so sensitive that the manufacturers were forced to modify the handsets for a real small 'pickup zone'. Some customers NEVER learned to keep the transmitter in front of their lips. Used to be, the 'pickup zone' was so big, the handset could be below the chin and pickup just fine. We all still run into that occassionally, but fail to recognize the problem quickly. Watch how they hold their handset, when they are not aware you are watching. Explanation, 'the limited pickup zone was developed for elimination of eavesdropping'. It usually works, but you have to act 'surprised' that previous techs have not told them that. And THAT'S why you didn't pick up on the real source of the problem quickly! For Lord's sake, don't make it look/sound like they are 'lacking in thought procesing skils'. John C. (Not Garand)

Thanks for the input guys, I have spoken to Panasonic factory in UK today and they are aware of the problem and have sent me an escalation form to complete. I'm not sure what the fix will be, probably a board change. I'll post the result.

The Kx taw might look like the 308 but thats where it ends The Kx-taw is more like the kxtda No gain controls in software, unless in hidden menu, like the 1232 had
