Is it possible to take a call on a cordless phone or the digital phone which it attached thru the XDP jack.
RE: TVS100. I would like to either program a MBX to play the announcement only or assign a digit to go to play a message

Yes, if the 4 wires between the system and the phone socket is connected dial 691 to turn on xdp ringer. Also the program 600 should say disabled for that port.
You would need to set up a custom service to play message without being able to record
