Any update on what they have recommended? Curious to see what they come up with.

I guess I'm a little late in getting in on this one but...

My username makes it somewhat obvious that I'm a little biased toward the Avaya solution but I have worked with both systems in question.

As mentioned before, either system will do what you are looking for when properly equipped and/or licensed. This is one area that might be a "gotcha" if you don't pay close attention to the quoted system. Verify that the quotes provided include the features you are expecting. VOIP capability is an additional expense that might not be included in the quote if you weren't clear when explaining your needs.

Both systems have the capability to use ARS(Alternate/Automatic Route Selection) for routing calls via a different trunk if the VOIP trunk is not in service.

Both systems have their own little quirks as do most systems but quality vendors know how to get around those.

Both systems have a few differences in how they handle things so if both quotes are in an acceptable price range, I would request a demo of each system to get a better feel for how they work and decide which one acts the way you feel most comfortable with.

One last consideration that hasn't been brought up, what type of system do you currently have? You may be able to reuse some or all of the phones with a newer system which could save a lot of money.
