My landlord is having 3 CO lines right now with a D816 and looking for a VPS of possibly 2-port, and they are looking for fully automatic auto-attendant set with the VPS for all 3 CO lines at anytime. Can someone advice what would be happening if a 3rd caller calls in while both VPS ports are engaged at a particular moment with the 1st and 2nd callers??? Thanks a lot in advanced! huntgroup

It will wait for a free port. the ports will only be busy for the time the call is answered by the AA to the time the call is transfered to the extension and is then released to the telephone system, it does not use the port for the lenght of the call. 2 ports with 3 lines should be plenty
“I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.”

Thanks OBT! I was just wondering, what the 3rd caller will listen during the wait time for the next available port??? As the KSU is connected to radio as MOH, do you think the VPS will grab the same MOH as well or just dead-air? Would it be anyway to program the 3rd caller to be transferred to any particular ext., such as the operator instead of queuing? Sorry for so many questions, thanks again! huntgroup

The caller will hear ringing until the voice mail is able to pick-up the 3rd line. MOH is not applicable until after the call is answered. As previous poster said, it should not be an issue with only 3 CO lines.

Sorry, I skipped over the second part of your post. You can program the line to also ring a station either immediately or on a delay in the phone system. Again however, as OBT said, you will probably not have an issue if you just "Let it be", if they had that much traffic then they would have more than 3 lines.
