Hello, I am not a phone tech, just an end user at a small business. We have a KXTA624 system, using KXT7030 and KXT7020 phones. I spend a fair amount of time on the phone and would like to use a Plantronics CT12 system that I already have (I know, the thing is really old). I am using a splitter to give me two jacks, with the CT12 set plugged into one jack and the KXT7030 plugged in the other. The only issue I am experiencing is that the CT12 does not ring. I can pick up calls and make calls from the CT12 though. I verified that the CT12 ringer is on and it does "ring" when I change the ringtone, so I know it does make sounds. Do I have this hooked up right? Any ideas on where to look to get the CT12 to ring? The CT12 was used previously on an Avaya system, do I need to "reset" the CT12?
Also, we would like to add voicemail as inexpensively as possible, what do I need to do that?
Is it possible to have music on hold with this system and play that thru the speaker on the phone?
Finally, are there any resources to get inexpensive designation strips and plastic overlays?
Thanks in advance
Lee

Lee, For the Plantronics set to ring, you will have to activate that port in field 610. Also, if you have your 7030 phone set on auto answer it won't ring. Voicemail: yes, look into a KX-TVA50 Music on hold, (MOH) yes, you need a sorce, Radio, CD player or OHP unit. designation strips and plastic overlays: Yes, Overlay pro by BaudCom and DESI are 2 companies that offer the sheets and programs. Just Google either one. ------------------ MrG

Thanks for the information. Can you offer me any resources in setting the port in field 610?
I will look into a source for music, and will Google the companies listed for the desi's.
Thanks again.

"resources" ? I take it your not familiar with the system programming. You need to go into system programming, go to program field 610 and enable it for that port. We try to limit our assistance to end user programming. If your not familiar with the system programming I would suggest you call in a Tech. ------------------- MrG

For something as simple as adding a headset I need to call in a support person?? Where can I learn to do the programming? I see that each phone has a program switch on the back.
Thanks

Lee If you have the manuals that came with the system it will have all the information you need assuming you can interpret it. Just remember you will need to access the system programming and if you do not know what you are doing you can screw your system up pretty bad. You mentioned you would like to add a voice mail system and music on hold. Do you plan on setting that up yourself? I would call a tech in and have him knock it all out in one shot.
I Swear I did not touch anything

I'm all for saving a $1 too, but without the manuals, (or with 'em and without experience/progamming knowledge) you are really better advised doing as Anthony and MrG suggest. John C. (Not Garand)
