Hi All,

We've recently purchased the PBXTEA308 phone system, our requirements to the supplier were
- We have 3 outside phone lines
- We want 4 handsets (inc main phone)
- We need answer phone
- We need to put a fax on the system too

We were provided with a 7730 for the PT and 3 Panasonic DECT phones for the other handsets, we were also provided with a BT Response 75 for the answer phone. We checked this would all work together before buying, was confirmed it would. We did also order a cabling kit but have since returned it as it came with no instructions and we aren't technically adept enough to start picking cables apart and "stamping them" as were were told on the phone.

So anyway, after buying some standard RJ11 cables to hook the phones up, some extension cables for the fax machine and using the default cable that came with the answer phone we eventually got the system wired up. The phones are working, we can use all 3 lines at once and the calls come in correctly.

What isn't working:
- The answer phone keeps trying to take calls, it's connected on extension 5 and has it's own setting to wait 6 rings before picking up. For some reason even after we pick up a call it is making a right old racket.
- The fax machine is picking up EVERYTHING within 1 ring, we've changed the setting on the fax machine to wait 7 rings now, however this means actual faxes keep getting picked up with us thinking they are phone calls.

My question...
I see there is fax detection on the 308, but the instruction manual is clearly aimed at more technically minded folk. We've managed to get quite far on our own, but can anyone provide a fool-proof step-by-step instruction on how to make only faxes go to the fax machine (extension 6)

How do we make only un-answered calls go to the answer phone (ext. 5)

Hope it's not too much to ask, really appreciate any help smile

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Hi mark, the kxtes 308 can do fax detection, but you need to have a disa card, the call is answered by the disa card and you set it to transfer to extension group if not a fax.

If one of the lines is a fax line then in prog 408 set the extensions to not ring for that line only the fax line ext (6). for the answering machine set extension 5 in prog 411 to delay ring for 10,20,30, sec.

other wise you will have to set ext 6 not to ring for incoming calls and transfer the call to exten 206,26,16 depends on number plan you set.

Some fax's have tam settings on them so you could put the fax on with the answering machine, when you are there you answer the calls and if it a fax you transfer to machine, if you are not there the answering machine connected to the fax will answer, if it is a fax the fax will take the line from answering machine.

Hi OBT,

That's brilliant - thanks for the response. It seems we'll have no good way to get the fax going which is a real shame, I'm sure I saw something about DISA inbuilt so i'll have a play around.

One final question though if we don't, there seems to be no documentation on how to transfer calls from the individual DECT phones, they are all panasonic and again the supplier told us this would be possible - they don't have dedicated transfer buttons as the PT does, is there a common button/sequence for transfering from SLT's/DECT phones on this type of setup?

We obviously will need to be able to transfer from a DECT to fax if it is a fax, or from DECT to DECT for calls.

Re: Answer phone - sounds perfect smile hope you can help, I need to go in tomorrow to finish setting it up for the rest of the office by Monday first thing!

Mark, you could be right the 308 has disa built in and the 824 is optional. you could programe one line for disa and if it is a fax it comes through only problem is the 308 does not have ring groups so that line could only select one phone to ring on incoming call. youi could set up a extension group but it will sitll only ring 1 phone, but will search for free extension.

To transfer a call from the cordless phones use the R button on the phone.
