If you HEAR nothing, then you have one of two things:
The modular plug carrying the fourth line is faulty;
The fourth CO line port has failed (highly unlikely)
My vote is that the plug is field-terminated and was done improperly.
If flexible line cords were used for the connection of the original lines, you might want to verify that the second cord carrying lines 3 and 4 is a four-conductor cord.
By the way, 7453 is the model of one of many Panasonic phones. Are we safe to assume that your system is a KX-TD816 or 1232? That information usually helps in troubleshooting.

Devinc, It's hard to tell where one question ends and the next begins. #1 There are a couple of different ways to make your idle line preference line 3. You can target line 3 or you can target the trunk group that line 3 is a part of and have it hunt from 3 (when in use) to 2 and so on. #2 Auto answer #3 Make sure all of your phones are in the same extension group and then use the internal page zone. This can be programmed onto a button.
I've pointed you in the right direction for each of these questions. If you're still unclear on how to acomplish these tasks, then I would recommend an experienced technician be consulted.

DevInc, have you been in the system programming? Switch lines 1 & 2 with 3 & 4 and then try lines 1 & 2 on a phone. this will at least verify the wiring and modular connector for lines 3 & 4. When finished, switch them back.
If your familiar with programming, and if each CO line is still in it's own trunk group, (as they are by default) then the programming field you need to change is 103. Change it to 31245678 or how ever you want it to pick. -------------------- MrG
