I have a KX-T7880 (connected to a KX-TD1232) that has worked fine for several years. Now when I power it on and press talk, it beeps twice. Then if I dial just about anything, the main phone extension on the system rings. Ditto if I just press a button for an outside line and press any number button.
The battery is fine. Any other suggestions on how I can debug or repair?
thanks...Mike

check if the 0 button is stuck down, could cause it to dial 0 every time a number is dialed

Nope, that's not it - none of the keys appear to be stuck.

Mike, check the base and make sure it's not set in SLT mode. Also, you may want to put a pits set, (system phone) on that port and see if there are any problems with the port or system programming for that port. An analog display set would be best if you have one. ----------------- MrG

MrG, I though it might be the 0 stuck down as I had a key set the other day with that problem But you are right it must be some thing like a hot line set up by mistake Mike try dialing 790 on the cordless straight away it should reset the extension

Thanks for all the suggestions. I did try swapping the portable phone with another analog set. The problem followed the phone, not the port.
Another clue: when I dial the extension of the portable phone, it does ring, but when I answer it, I get a loud tone.
Any other suggestions? Is my phone set busted?

Did you try swapping it with a digital set? Check the display like Mr.G suggested.
