i have a tx824. 3 lines. i just got cable phone service for one line... I ported my old verizon number to this new cable line. it checked out as identifying the number. i hooked up a line from cable modem to CO1 input --- i get dial tone and can make calls thru my system but it will not ring for incoming! in fact, i get my answering machine when i call the number, but it doesnt trigger a ring in the house... Verizon has not turned off the old service, and i still have verizon for lines 2 and 3... so i am at a loss to figure it out. any ideas out there? many thanks

Verizon may not have released your number from their switch yet. If that is the case anyone trying to call you from your original CO will get a ring no answer because instead of routing the call to your new carrier the call will stay in Verizons switch and route over your now dead co pair. I would first make a call from your other Verizon line to you cable line, listen for the ring on your Verizion line when you hear the line ringing on your Verizon line (originating) pick up the cable line (terminating) even if you do not hear an audible ring. If the call completes it is a ring voltage issue, if it does not complete it is most likely a porting issue. Have your cable company open an "LNP" ticket with Verizon. Good luck

anthony: the verizon line is not dead yet... three days later its still on and works both ways. thats part of the problem i assume. when i dial in from outside, i can get the old verizon line to ring. when i dial in and hook up the cable line, i dont get an audible ring, yet it does go to my answering machine... thats the mystery... could it be a ring/voltage issue? and a porting problem. how do i adjust that

Your best bet is to report the issue to your provider and stay on top of them. Verizon needs to release your line from their switch and it needs to be ported to your new carrier. I do not think it is a ring voltage issue because your old line still works which tells me it has not been ported yet. If it is not ported the calls are not being directed to your new line. Also PM sent.

I think that your new service through cable TV is the only thing connected to your Panasonic system. Verizon's old service is still connected to your other inside wiring. When a call comes in, it's still ringing on the old Verizon circuit. That's pretty much what Anthony has already said, so consider this to be a second opinion.
If my suspicions are correct, you'll need to make sure that all of your existing wiring is connected to the new service provider, not just your Panasonic KSU.

received a PM back, their was an ordering screw up and Verizon never released the line and it was never ported. Cable company is in the process of fixing this.

Just hope the 2nd and 3rd Verizon lines weren't 'billed-on' to the first number. If they are/were, they're going away, unless the new provider made the apprpriate arrangements, which they probably didn't think about! John C
