I’m trying to wire a DECT cell station in parallel with an existing PT extension via its XDP Port and cannot get it to work.
The PT is a KX-T7633 on slot 4, port 4 (the first DLC16 card); it is ext. 104. The Cell Station is a DECT 6.0 KX-T0155 which I want to plug directly into the XDP port of ext. 104. It is married to a KX-TD7685 Portable Station (presently assigned ext. 160). When the tech set up the new Portable Station, ext. 104 already resided at the Library location. He removed the PT at ext. 104 and replaced it with the Cell Station – the port is still programmed as ext. 104 and the DSS lights on all the other PT’s are illuminated red showing the Library PT extension is missing. The DECT Cell Station does work on this port and the Portable Station ext. 160 is fully functional in the Library via this connection to slot 4, port 4.
The Librarian wants the PT and the DECT phone paralleled in the Library (as ext. 104) but I can’t get it working. If I plug the PT into the port, ext. 104 comes back up and works as it should. If I plug the Cell Station into the XDP port of ext. 104, the light on the Cell Station just flashes red; never turns green. I went into system programming and confirmed the COS (1) assigned to ext. 104 allows XDP function. I assigned ext. 160 as the “Cell XDP extension†of ext. 104 and applied the change – the system accepted the change and followed with a message asking me to power down the Cell Station then power it back up for the change to take effect. I did this and nothing changed: the Cell Station still flashes red and the Portable Station display reads “no signalâ€Â. If I remove the PT and plug the Cell Station directly into the jack, the light changes to solid green and the Cell Station (ext. 160) works fine.
I tried to check the programming via a display phone connected to programming port 1. I confirmed XDP was enabled for COS 1. I then tried to assign Slot 4, Port 4 as an XDP extension (program *# 1234 600) but the system wouldn’t allow me to enter “4†for slot 4 – it just double beeped – I could get no further.
The dial plan also makes reference to “Wireless XDP set/cancel†as *48. I tried going off hook on intercom and dialing *48 at both the PT extension and the Portable Station and neither responded to the entry so I’m totally out of ideas.
Can anyone familiar with the plain English programming steps help me with this? Is there something obvious I’ve overlooked that is preventing me from succeeding? I just want the Cell Station to work seamlessly in conjunction with ext. 104 via its XDP Port! Thanks in advance for your assistance!

I've only done a couple of wireless handsets, but I think it must have it's own extension. Then through programming you can set up the handset to work parallel with ext. 104. You would also want to check programming in port property.
Do the job right the first time.

The cell station requires its own entire port. It can't be DXDP off of any 76XX style phone. The DLC port provides 2-64k channels to operate either two 76XX phones (each uses 1-64k channel) or in your case one cell station which can accomodate 2 simultaneous ps calls using the 2-64k channels. This is why either will work alone but not together.

First of all, the cell station must be connected to it's own digital port. The system will recognize the port type as a CS. You can then register handsets to the system and have a PS connect via wireless XDP to be parallel to a digital station. When you make changes to the PS extension number or name, you will be prompted to power down for changes to take effect.

Thanks guys.
So I should leave slot 4, port 4 programmed for PT ext. 104 and assign a new port for the Portable Station? Since ext. 160 is already registered, won't it just move with the cell station when I put it on a new port? Then I'll have to go into programming, de-register ext. 160 and re-register it as 104? And in "wired extensions", add ext. 104 as a CS for wired ext. 104? Are these the right steps?

This is user programming.
Reference 1.20.4 Feature Manual TDA. From any ps (with COS privilege to use this feature: icm, *48 1 ext(you wish to pair with) Confirmation tone, hangup. Sets.
icm, *48 0 Tone Hangup. Cancels. See above reference for exceptions.

Brokeda, His problem is not pairing the PS, but understanding the proper connections for the cell station.
Idiot, Your port programming has nothing to do with the PS. The first thing you have to do is properly connect the CS to a digital port. Once the CS is connected and recognized by the system, you will only have to register the PS. If you want to change the extension number, do so in PS programming. The system will inform you to power down the handset so changes can take effect.

Thanks guys - I got a clue and fixed it yesterday. My major problem was thinking I could plug a cell station into an XDP port. Of course I over-analyzed everything after that. Sure enough, I plugged the cell station into the next DLC16 port, assigned ext. 160 in parallel with ext. 104 and it worked like a charm. So simple!
A huge thanks to all of you, particularly Kevhawk! This forum is an invaluable resource!

Glad you got it going! A TDA tech should be able to wire up a phone. Seriously, Idiot Boy, read the hardware manual. Very confused about XDP properties and use. Just wondering, are you certified on TDA?
