I had a strange problem over the weekend. A TDA 200 with an IP 16 Ext. card and 3 NT-136 tel sets at three different vpns connected to the main location had two of the phones lose connection with the pbx. One site had its IP address changed, so the vpn went down, and I'm not sure what happened to the other site. After establishing the vpn and able to ping both ways, the pc and router and phone, the phone still showed poor lan connection. We tried rebooting the phone, both power and lan, and taking the port on the card OUS and still no change. Finally this morning I connected to the pbx and took the IP 16 card OUS, and back INS and everyting worked fine. Anyone know what could have happened or why it took resetting the card to fix the problem? Have any of you had the same issue? Thanks for any input.

I have not come across it before, but if it went down suddenly, the ports may have locked up and not allow the extensions back on.
Are you using dhcp or fixed ip on the phones?

We are using fixed ip's on the phones. Both phones went down but were probably not related, but reported at the same time. The elogs did not indicate anything. I would have thought that taking a port ous would have reset the phone but only when the card went ous did the problem stop.

I have noticed that with the message 4 card in 15-30 over here. The card locks up, it still answered the lines but did not play the disa message, you have to take the card out and back in to service, it does not log a fault, I think it is because the system does not see the fault. Could explain why your phones would not log back on, if the system thought they were still working

I guess this is one of those things we now know how to fix and when the customer asks what happened, we can say it must be some sort of "Magnetic-Annomally"! Thanks OBT
