Has anyone had any problems with the batteries on the DBS. I had a call last week were the customer lost power and when the power came back on the batteries started smoking. After look at the batteries they were dated 94 and the cases had expanded and cracked. I was wondering if anyone has seen this before or now that the age of the system is nearing 20 years and most of the batteries are orignal from the install is this something we may need to notify all DBS customer this could possible happen.

It could be related to a possible surge in voltage when the power was returned to the system. I wouldn't worry too much about it. It was probably an isolated event.
