Hi guys - ok so on a technical aspect, I know virtually nothing about these phones.
We were given the system for our sub shop 3 years ago, with one main phone (can program) and two regular phones 'hybrid system'. Also have 3 other extensions with standard household phones.
We have TWO incoming lines. The office line rings in three offices, and the prep area. (the main phone, 1 hybrid phone, and 2 regular phones)
The Order line rings out front one of the hybrid phones as well as an extension (REALLY LOUD RINGER so we can hear it anywhere)
We had a power outage the other day, and we have had many over the 3 years. This power outage caused one of our computers to not run for 4 hours, and now the phone system is whacky.
Basically, no matter WHICH line you call, ALL 6 phones ring. No matter what phone picks it up, it automatically accepts the call. If I picked up an extension for the order line, but it was the office line, I couldn't answer the call without hitting line 2 before. Now, if I just pick it up it connects.
But the main problem is obviously ALL 6 phones ringing at once, on both lines.
I BELIEVE this is a programming issue. I am aware of the line on 'extension 11' being the program phone, and was here when the guy installed the system. So I think with the help of you guys, I can get it programmed right. I DO have the manual, but it's a lot of reading gibbrish!
Any recommendations? Tips? Step by step to fix it? lol... please help. We are a family run sub shop surviving this crazy economy and the last thing we need is to pay someone a lot of money we don't have to fix this.

you have to look at it this way there is a family owned company that knows panasonic systems right in salem and knows nothing about a running a sub shop so in this economy hes waiting by the phone to do phone work because every one wants to do it them self ....see were I going with this...if you need the phones fixed yesterday then open the phone book!!!

It is a programming issue. I would look at the nicad memory retention battery as well. There is some in depth programming required to fix your problem. If you not familiar with programming you might call in someone who is.

Let me put it this way - it's not getting fixed unless I can do it. I know phone guys are hurting just as much, KXTVET, I get your drift there. But it's not a MAJOR issue, it's just annoying. In this economy, it's feed yourself then others. If I could afford to call him in, I wouldn't be here.
Guess I'll have to look elsewhere for help then. Thanks for verifying it is a programming issue though Alvaphonepro.

dpawl you have two problems that need to be solved. First the reason that the power failure caused problems with the phones is the memory battery is bad. All phones ring on all lines is a programming issue but will do no good fixing it until the memory battery is replaced. If money is tight then I suggest you try the barter system most phone men like to eat. You say you have the manual then check the section "Flexible Day Ring Assignment"

Thanks Merritt, Where is this memory battery? Will look into the flex ring... I have a paper manual for the T61610 and I found an online manual for the '616'. -Doug

I retract my previous statement, I know where the battery is... haha. Running out to the car to get the multimeter, and test it. Thank you!

It will probably test ok, it's a NICAD and has developed a memory of no support. At least 3 years old, right? It's life is over, ask a NICAD manufacturer. Change it before you program, or wish you did later. Alternative, UPS from staples/officemax/whomever. Cost more but it looks like you've GOT something! John C.

Battery is 2.4v 110ma battery, and it's showing 2.73v... power going to it is running over 4v (trying to charge battery not connected)
I don't know how to load test something per-say, but I do have a small 3v LED I wedged into the battery terminals, and it lost about 30% brightness in the 2.7v batter6 from the 3v.
After about 5 minutes with that LED, the battery is testing 2.33v instead of 2.73v... good sign it's the cause of the phone system failure?

Thank you John C!
The battery is more than likely original to the system, and it sat in a shed for a few years!
Surprised we got through two winter storms knocking our power out for DAYS and still had phone settings when I came back. I guess that's why I always thought the settings were saved to some sort of solid state media. Guess I was way wrong!
