2 problems.
(1) No message waiting lights are coming on. All mbox's are in cos1. Msg waiting light notification is enabled in cos1. What else can I check?
(2) They are saying that very often when they hang-up the phone, or right after they put a call on hold, their intercom starts ringing for no reason. They have to pick up and hang up phone to get it to stop. Why would that happen?
All incoming calls go to AA. 14 phones.
Thanks...

Check what ports are allowed to run notifications in TVA program. Run PUTD or LINEMON to see whats happening.
On the ringing , could be a short somewhere/loose amps?? I have not run into that. Start std trouble shooting, pull 1 amp see if problem stays, go from there.

I'll check the ports and will run putd and lmon to see if the tvs is sending the code to light up the mwl. Thanks.
For the ringing, pull the amps from where? The tvs? Never done that before.

Amps from the phone system. To check for shorts or bad ports.

Make sure extension numbers are programmed same as mailboxes. Message notification lamp can be turned off in mailboxes also.

Also make sure the user didn't accidentally enable call blocking as this will stop the MW lights from lighting as will all calls to Mbox

(1) Make sure the message lamp works on the phone by calling it from another extension and press the message button. That will tell you if the light is functional.
(2) It sounds like somehow something is entering a digit that the system thinks is a "call-back" or a "camp-on" and as soon as the station goes to hold or idle, it is initiating the feature code. If there is a display phone, the display should indicate what is ringing the phone.

Went on site, found nothing wrong in programming, reset td and tvs and mwl's started working. Wtf?
Reset did not fix phantom ringing though. Got to see the problem myself. It says CO on the display when ringing, the intercom button flashes but it's a single ring like a co call.
Checked integration type and it's OK. Tech support said to default the 816. I told the customer to gather more info on the problem and let me know. Glad to walk out of that mess but will be back for sure, they want to change the Auto Attendant to include an option for Chinese and Spanish!! Ahhhhh! Maybe a good time to default both the vm and td.
