KXTD1232 - One digital extension has a msg lamp that is not consistently being triggered by new messages. The user says "once in a while it will light," and when she presses it, it routes her to the correct mailbox and prompts for password, but she'll have several messages in there, sometimes days old. Any advise??

Thanks,

Chris O

Check to see that all VM ports are functioning.
165,166, for two port, add 167,168 for 4 port etc.
Also make sure that the VM turns off Message lights, not the phone system.
That's what I can think of now.
Others who have ran into this will be along.

Thanks for the tip! I have a feeling it's something to do with the mailbox, or with the MSG waiting lamp button...It used to work fine, and this is the only extension experiencing this problem...
When I try to reassign the flex-key, it beeps, telling me that the key which is currently assigned for MSG waiting lamp, is not a valid key to use for this feature?? am I missing something here..?

Reason I mentioned the VM turn off Light:
Usually affects few people because it's their behavior that triggers this.

They get a message and call VM, before hearing all messages they hang up, you could only need be connected for a fraction of a second. Immediately upon hangup the phone system turns off the Msg Lamp, even though New Messages are still present. Unless 'Message Lamp for every Message' is turned on in the VM, no message Lamp attempt will be made until the user listen's to all new messages and then a hangup, and a new message comes in.
If VM is responsible for turning off the Message Lamp, the only time it will Turn Off the lamp, is when the user listens to ALL new messages. I have had from 1 to 2 or 3 users affected with this, depending how frazzled and busy they are.
May have nothing to do with your problem.
But it sure ran me around the barrels a few times before I figured it out the first time.
