Existing system 1232 Hybrid with a mix of digital and hybrid sets. 4 extensions connected to the main system have no dialtone, but a clicking can be heard. A 5th extension was dead but now works. There is an external 8 station module, all phone work fine.

I suspect the problem is with the motherboard. Do you think rebooting will solve problem or would it be best to replace main 1232 system.

I don't know the rev of the rom - I suspect the system is at least 8 years old. It does have VM system (Panasonic).

Thanks in advance

a dead short on the data pair will /can knock down a whole 8 port block if you did not use bridging clips connect a test block to the female that you are having problems with walk down the block with a Testar adapter if all the problem ext's come back up you know there is a dead short or points on station cabling!!

Sorry for the delayes response. I have verified amp cables are tight on system. I have tested ports at the system side for the 5 phones in question.

I think the cable trouble has caused system port problems. I have placed a new set and wired it to the 66M1-50 block for ext 106, 109, 110, 111, and 112. The phone works for three extensions when isolated from distribution cable.

Jack 110 and 112 - when a digital phone is plugged in - it clicks/all lights flash - cycle on 1 second intervals. I can draw DT on analog T/R. On Ext 110 - it works with local phone, once x-connected - it's dead. I have spare ports - ext 119 - 124. Connecting a spare port to cable of ext 110 = dead phone at distant end. Definite cable problem.

Can I just I do a swap with 110 to 119 and have programming (buttons) follow the swap and will VM box's follow the station swap? I will attempt to power cycle the system tomorrow after doing a backup to a PC.

Other than that - I can say three ports are bad on the system side, the others are cable related - possible water in a splice/can somewhere (1950's building/cable)in the ceiling/behind a wall. It's old lath/plaster ceiling, old 12 pair cables the split off to JKT somewhere????

Any other idea's would help - thanks in adance
