Got a customer with an old 616. He has a gate intercom that can send a double ring. Can that double ring from the gate intercom pass thru the phone system and do a double ring on the phones? The intercom is ringing in on an open CO port. Never tried to pass a telco or any other distinct ring thru a system before.

The system can't create a double ring for a CO can it?

Well. Ran in to this once before. Had customer with old old Panasonic system ( can't remember model off hand) but wanted to put selective ringing on one line.?. The system would not pass the double ring and ended up installing an accessory ringer on that particular line. Yea, I know.. sounds stupid but the job paid so why ask why. But an auxiliary ringer or distinct ring pattern on that line may be an option but unsure if ring selection is an option on that model.

OK good. Now I can tell him he needs a tda50 with an extra power supply to power all of his apt phones if he really wants this. Thanks.

Yeah but on the tda50 you can program a trunk group to ring single, double or triple ring which the apt's will do.

In the 848/TDA/TDE/NCP systems, put that open CO used for the gate in a separate trunk group, then program that trunk group to have a triple ring (not to confuse with an icm double ring). Done it before, works great. No group co button.

On the apt sets there are no distinct ring tones. That CO, or any CO in that trunk group will follow what you set in 2.8.1
