Until recently when messages were left on my extension the red light at the top right corner of the phone lit up and I could retrieve the messages by pressing the 'message' button at the bottom left of the phone.
Last week I pressed something and since then the only way to retrieve messages is by pressing 500 and going through the menu. The light also does not come on so I am not alerted to new messages.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have resolved this. I went into the mailbox settings, chose message waiting notification, then the option for the notification lamp which had been disabled. Once I enabled it the lamp and the message button on the phone both started working.
