I was wondering if anyone knows whether there is any difference between the 1232 chip and the 816 one?

I remember installing one of those way back on a 1232, don't know of any difference. I remember it making a conf call sounds much better. They don't have anything like that for the new products do they?

Do the ECHO cards serve the same purpose? I was always told they get rid of echo, while the conference chip seemed like it boosted volume.

The Echo card also ups the number of conference calls to 16. Not sure if it boosts volume the description just says provides echo cancellation for up to 16 ports.
