I am replacing an old 308 system that has a door intercom and a door opener adaptor. Does the door opener adaptor supply power to the door strike? I am going to put in a Mitel 3000 which has a place for the door, but does not supply power.

No neither system supplies voltage its a DRY contact relay .Door strikes requires a power supply in series with the strike.Take a close look at specs on the 3000 you may need to drive a relay to operate the strike! If this is an existing set up all you need is to lift a pair of wires of the 308 and move it to the contacts on the mitel the power supply is already connected in series.

So much for easy. I floated the system off of the wall for my install tomorrow and a few of the wire pulled off the block. I located the pair that comes from the doorphone and connected the pair from the door phone box on the system. The box is dead. I must be missing a connection.
Thanks

What kind of door phone 'box' are you using and how are you connecting it to your new system?

Please tell me that you aren't trying to reuse the existing Panasonic door box on a port from your system. I hope that I'm assuming incorrectly, but I'm thinking that you are trying to use a proprietary Panasonic door box. You can't do that...Ever...With any other brand of system either.

Help us help you, Chateau. We need lots and lots of detail in order to assist.

Thanks, I was re-connecting to the panasonic last night and they lived without it till this morning. I am using the Door box from Mitel/Intertel now and have it connected to the white blus pair going to the 4th station port on the Mitel 3000. I am going to call Mitel tech support for this issue now, but I wanted to get back with you and thank you.

Well, I think the door strike was getting power from the Panasonic through the door opener adaptor. The door strike operates with a card or from a phone command. The new system and door box work just fine, but the strike is dead using the card insert or from the telephone.

I am thinking of trying to put a 24vdc power supply in line.

Any thouoghts?

When I put the power supply on in series it worked. Sortly after I found that they have a switch behind the bar(Elks lodge) that they turn on at 4:00pm and the door strike gets power and works. I took my power supply off and it works.
Now I know why I was spinning trying to see why it would not work.

Don't you hate that after you have pulled a hand full of hair out someone says oh by the way there is a kill switch behind the bar.
