Hello everyone,
I just got a KX-TD1232-4 to replace my KX-TD816-1. I was wondering if backing up the 816 and restoring the config onto the 1232 will work? In all aspects, the 816-1 is a subset of the 1232-4, but am I forgetting anything here? I was thinking of doing the following:
- On the 1232, remove the CID card, the doorphone card, and every other option not equipped on the 816.
- Fatory-reset the 1232.
-Backup the 816 onto PC using the E1232A software.
-Restore the backup onto the 1232.
-Re-install the removed option cards.
Would this work?

For a 4 or 8 line and 8 or 16 extensions? How could that be tedious?

Yes tedious but some us set up a dozen td-1232's before they got the software !
