Greetings, Our local hospital has some areas that cell reception is less than exceptable. The administrator has asked if there are any kind of repeaters/boosters that actually work. I have not a clue?? Thanks for any suggestions! :confused:

My company uses mostly AT&T for cell phones. We had one high rise builing that had no cell service. I called my account rep and requested an in building wireless solution. Think of it as a small cell site. They installed several antennas throughout the building and a few boxes in one of my telecom closets. These boxes connect to the outside world via some T1's. There were costs involved but AT&T would pay the monthly cost of the T1's. I now have 5 bars all over.

You can purchase and install your own boosters. Sorry, can't name names, but if you do a little searching on the internet and E-bay, you should be able to find what you need. John C. (Not Garand)

Our local hospital wants cell phone and pagers turned off in the building. They say that it interfers with some of the equipment on site.

You can also try a bi-directional amplifier. An antenna on the outside of the building is distributed to several antennas through out the building. We have used a very company company that specializes in it, PM me if you want their info.

I believe there was a report of one or two just starting to relax the rule, however, allowing cellphone use in certain areas.

I never understood the pager part. They really don't send out a signal so there is no benifit for turning them off. Pluss if they are off You Will NOT get any pages sent. Ours are even installing Amateur Radio stations in them as a complement to Emergency Preparedness. I would check with your Cell provider. They may be willing to put up a repeater there. it would benifit both of you.
