As an in-house tech in a hospital, I help write and enforce these policies. We were unable to demontsrate any interference from any of our wireless/cell devices on even the most delicate of equipment without actually ahing the two devices touching. We do not allow cell phones in monitored units (ie ccu, icu, OR, etc.), but do allow them everywhere else. On a side note, while we were testing this, one of the Plant Ops guys walked past in the hallway talking on his motorola two way radio and totally blitzed every monitor in the room, so I guess better safe than sorry.
Respectfully, Mike Evans CHS Telecom

That no cell phone / pager rule was imposed on hospitals simply to aovid the unecessary noise.
with some testing, cell / pager didn't show any interference with any of our medical equipments..
Thanks for the links, we are looking for such equipment as well to help cell/pagers have a better signal in the hospital/medical building.
Almost 99% of our health provider clients now use cell phone as their pager, so cell signal is imperative everywhere.
