Hi,

I have a TD816 v1 setup which requires to restrict long distance calls for all users on one specific CO line.

Here is the setup. Two CO lines assigned (one each) to Line Groups 1 and 2. User normally presses on the CO line button to pick the line and dials 1-AREA-NNX-XXXX (NA plan). Because of this way of picking the line, I think ARS (Automatic Route Selection) will not work here to restrict in any way.

What I would like is a way to force the user to do something different from the normal dialing pattern on line 1 in order to be allowed a long distance call. On line 2, the user would dial the normal way, as shown above. The intent is to block the long distance call in case the user forgets to select line 2 to make his long distance call. Having a code to bypass the blocking would be acceptable. Note that a local call should be processed normally if possible.

I have read the feature guide and see that there are possibilities with TRS and account codes, but have not figured a neat way to restrict only one line group. Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

Thanks in advance!

Bert.

ARS would be the way to do it, it can be set if they press a line key it will not pick up the correct co for the number dialed

trs would be anoying as all it will do is drop the line if they dial LD on that co

Hi OBT,

Thanks for responding to my query. I tried ARS yesterday evening and it works only if I dial "9" and let the system pick the CO line. If I pick the CO line using the CO button, the ARS functionality gets bypassed. This is also shown on the flow diagram in the ARS section of the KX-TD Detailed Feature Guide.

BTW, I used "1*" in the Leading Digits table.

If you know how to override the line selection based on the phone number dialed, let me know!

Thanks,

Bert.

For future reference, here is how I solved my requirement.

I replaced the two single-CO buttons with one Loop-CO button in the regular bottom-left area of the CO-buttons zone. I created an ARS rule to force any long distance call (using the 1* definition) to the proper line group. All other calls get directed to the regular CO line. I instructed the users to simply press the Loop-CO button whenever they want to make an external call and to let the system decide what line to use. I also defined the original two Single-CO buttons in the upper right corner just to allow monitoring of the line being used and provide a last resort bypass feature for myself. The objective is to delete those soon.

Cheers,

Bert.
