I have in place a Merlin Plus, BUT I have a telrad system in a box that I can use as well. I am setting this up for a small buisness who really want voice mailbox. I've done some research to the merlin side of mailboxes. It looks like I can use an old computer and some computer cards( DVC? ) and software to make my own mailbox, is that correct?
Any idea or info appreciated.
Thanks, David Barnes

You have the whole telrad computer or just the DVC card?
The telrad i-magen won't work on the Merlin.
I'll not clear on what your trying to do.

I'm with you Tony, not sure if he is asking about firing up the Terad or using a Telrad VMS on the Merlin.

ok, the system is a Telrad Digital Key BX... is there more that I need to post? There was two systems donated, one is a Merlin Plus, I installed that one and it is working fine. The second system is the Telrad. The person that I installed this for really, really wants voice mail capabilities. I looked into the Merlin side and am now thinking about the Telrad option if it will be easier/cheaper. I don't mind swapping out the systems if it will do what he wants. I've wired 10 phones so far. I opened the Telrad and there are 4 cards labeled MPD, CHL, ELD, OCD. Now, I realize that I will have to get something to do the voice mail. My question is what would that be? I've seen people using old computers with a special card/software. Is that correct? If so, what is the card/software and how easy is it to find used? Thanks for your replies, hope I've covered it more thourougly<sp> this time. ![[Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]](https://www.sundance-communications.com/forum/smile.gif) David Barnes [This message has been edited by Usurperdave (edited October 07, 2004).]

So at this point Dave you do not have a Voicemail for the system you are looking to add one. First thing you need to do is look at the memory cartridge that is installed on the MPD card and find the system software. Second is there a MIM cartridge on the OCD card? Now that you have this info click on the Tab above Equipment then Telrad and call for a price. Do yourself a favor get the complete voicemail dont try to build one you may be a computer and PC expert but there are pitfalls in the Telrad Imagen Voicemail building game. ------------------ ssimpson@oneringtelecom.com Need a Telrad Programmer Kit? ss Phones is right. To build and I magen you need a special mother broard. Plus you have to set up irq's. (it's not that bad but you need the right mother board.) You can't just get one off the shelf at comp usa.
