I need to find out where to go next with a perplexing problem. We have an office in FresnoCA with a Notrel Norstar system and an office in DenverCO with a Telrad 818 system. The problem is that when Fso is Calling Den and the auto attend picks up and ask you to input an extension the Den system has no response to the tones. You can call to Den from any other source and it works fine. You can call any other system from Fso and it works fine. The tech in Den says 'yeah he has seen that problem before and Fso needs to increas the DTMF signal time. Two different tech have said that it can't be done on the Fso system. These systems have been in use for at least 3 yrs with no problems. One other point, the Den tech was called to repair a different problem with the Telrad System shortly before this problem started.

Any Ideas?

Have you tried calling with your Cell? How about with a single line telephone? What software level are the system and voicemail. Are there copper trunks at both locations?

Calling the Den system from any other source seems to work fine. The Fso system seems to work fine with any system but Den.
I am not a tech, I "believe" we have copper trunks on both ends. I will see if I can get the software info.

Try calling the Denver location on a different CO Lines - see if they have problems on all lines or just some.

From the Telrad, try calling your cell phone. After the connection is made, try pressing the keypad and listen for DTMF tones. Some systems require DTMF to be allowed after a connection is made. I don't know anything about Telrads except how to spell it, but that is the first place to look.
I am assuming you need to actually call a regular telephone number to access VM. If that is the case, then the VM doesn't care where the call is comming from, at best the integration will be from the Nortel to the VM saying what line it's coming in on and if you come in on the same line or lines for any call it won't matter

Just tried using each of 8 Fso lines. No responese from the Telrad in Den when the VM number entered on phone on Fso Nortel system. Also tried using Fn808 on Nortel which is supposed to give extended tones. This did not work either.

Try changing the lenght to long or very long in programing ( you must reset after the change is uploaded). If that don't work try a volt test on the telrad trunks. Put one end of the meter on the tip then one end on the butt set and the other end on the but on the ring if you get 20mill amps or better the voltagage should be ok. Then if that ok get telco to test the db reading on the lines. Make sure they come on site to test them.

Oops... I started to say it looked as though your Norstar was set to pulse dial instead of tone, but missed where you said you could call other systems from that location. Kindly disregard [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]

I tried Bill's idea with the Fso(outgoing)end and the tones 'sounded' fine. This is confirmed in that we have not had a problem with any other location. I also listen to the Fn 808 long tones. The long tones are generated as long as you hold the button down. Using the long tones did not seem to have any effect on the problem.
Tony, are you talking about changing tone lengths on the Den. Telrad receiving end?
The tech on that end said he couldn't do any more. Said we had to extend on our(Nortel Norstar) end which I am told cna't be done. I would think the long tone should work if this is a duration problem.

On the telrad end. There is a trunck setting. if you sb5 or lower it's long or short. on sb6 and higher it's short long and very long. If it set to short put it up to long or very long. It's where the truncks are programed on the col or chl or mpd card. You must reset the system after this change to take affect. Also when you make this change the truncks will drop right after the download.
