We currently have a Telrad 128 system, with a lot of extra cards and phones that we have received over the years. We are almost out of space for phone extensions and will be completely out by next year.
I started looking at what to replace the old system with, but buying a completly different system would require the phone system and phones. So, I started looking at maybe buying a used 400 system, it looks like my old 128 cards would work in the 400 system, so all I need to buy is the Case, MPD card, Memory, Programming software.
Can anyone tell me for sure that the old 128 cards will work in a 400 system, and how many lines will each box handle, will I need an expansion case for 125 to 150 extensions?
Just looking for some help, and any heads up for problems anyone that has done this might be able to warn me about.
Thanks,
Mark Rock

All your cards working in your 128 cabinet will work in the 400, and 1000 cabinets. The only thing you really have to be carefull of is chips on the cards related to your switch ver. If you have ver. 7.xx 128 switch, and you get a ver.7.xx MPD400 and Mem Cart then there is no problem whatsoever. But trying to go up from, say, a ver.5 to ver.7 will most likely require card chips, which are relatively inexpensive.
The 400 will support up to 96 power ports per cabinet. device powered through the switch requires a power port. The Telrad400 supports up to 144 trunks, and 254 Stations, with a MAX limit of 384 TOTAL. Each cabinet has 128 programmable highways.
Be weary of v.7.36; I recommend v7.42 or E2E 2.xx or higher.

You can also go with the IPEX or MPD2 witch is licensed for the amount you need. I think it goes in blocks of 32 ports. Up to 384 ports, 144 in trunks and 254 in stations. Thats a mix of both in the ports. But thats by my memory. SS Phones will Know better.
