Is there a way to make protect anyone from getting into my switch? For example, I know I can set a password on the laptop I use, but if another person with the Telrad software connects their equipment to my switch they would be able to upload and configure my system. Is there a way to avoid this? I have two laptops and I want those two to be the only ones able to connect to it, and I would not like anybody to be able to access my switch that might have the software. Is this possible?

What version is your system?
You can set system passwords in both DKeyBX and eManager.
DKeybx: Connect to system Option 5 at main menu eManager: Connect to system Open system terminal option 1, I believe, then follow menu. Next time you connect to switch, enter the password when you open the config file.

On the newer systems there is no way of getting the password. If you forget the password you must send a password string to telrad and they will reset the password for you. Dealers don't have access to this.
On the older systems, SB1,2,3,4,5,6,7. There is way to reset the password. I won't tell anyone how to do this so DON'T ASK!!! If we see it posted on this MSG board it will Deleted right away.

Tony,
I am not trying to recover a password. I am setting a password so that no one else has access to the PBX. I went to Options, Configuration, Passwords, then I have two options (End user and Technician). I set a password for Enduser, so everytime I try to open up Emanger it asks for a password. However I guess my question is: The password I set is it for the software I am using meaning if you were to come to my work and you have the same software, are you able to upload all my info? Or the password I set is for the system and the only way you can log in is with my password? If this is not the way to set a system password, then what is? As for the older system, I do not think that applies to me, and I am not trying to hack into anyones system. E

That password is for your eManager. That password is stored in your eManager program and not in the system. You need to connect with eManager and open the system terminal. Follow my eManager instructions above. That should work, provided no one has set one before.

It's diffrent in sb1 - sb7, I think They change it to license strings in E2E. But here's both. Connected to the system with the gateway. Then open your e-manger, goto system terminal (a window should pop up and it will look kind of like hypre terminal).
In sb7 goto online programing (option 1) it will ask for a password, Type pass, then it will ask for the old password, type it in (if there is none just hit enter). Then it will ask for the new password, type it in.
On E2E goto to system terminal got0 1 system license/password programing, goto 5 program system password, then it will say something about getting the password string or type the old password. Put in th old passwrod or enter if none. then type the new pass word in.
When loading there will be a box on the right that has to have the password in or you will be kicked out.

That's the programing software. We want the software of the system. If you have done a back-up the software version will be on the bottom after you open the config file in e-manger.

When you load to your system there is a software version box that shows your system software version. This is not your eManager version. it is either sb7.XX or the E2E, or AdvanceIP versions are ec/ed1.xx or ec/ed2.XX and then there is ec or ed version 3.XX, the latest....I think.
