Hello, we have a telrad 128 and the phones we are using are the large display, Telrad Digital executive sets. Our database has the ability to use the modem in the computer to dial the phone number. Unfortunately our phones do not have a data port on them. Is there anyway to set this up, without having to replace any equipment? Someone on here once told me the 128MPD could handle avanti phones. Do the avanti phones have a data port on them?
Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

You need to find out if there's a modem. If you have an MPD card look for an OCD card with a module on it that says Modem.

the ocd card has only one module on it, and its servicing the VM computer. I want to make sure you understand my question. I want my desktop computer to dial a number from my database program, and then the operator pick up the receiver on the phone and talk. Basically, the computer will dial the number, instead of the person punching the keys on the keypad to dial the number. We are looking to increase the speed and efficiency of our operators on their outbound calls.

I don't think he wants to dial into the system and program it Tony. I think he is trying to do CTI. And he is trying to revive a dead horse. rl way back when and I say way back when because your system is pre SB7, there was a universal data card that if you look on the top of the phone under the display you can see a DB25 cut out, would mount inside the phone and give you CTI. Computer Telephone Intergration. So now is the time to go to whoever is asking for this hoping they a way up the ladder and say Boss its time to move the system to 2008. My guess you dont have a PC around there running DOS or win95 (unless it's the voicemail). Here's a list of what you need: IPeX server this replaces the MPD and voicemail because it's a all in one card. TVSe this is the IP card that comes with Web Portal and Connegy Dialer. You use Connegy Dialer to dial like your asking above from Outlook (assuming you have Outlook 2003 or 2007, becauce CD doesny play well with Outlook 2000) There is a Tsapi Licenses if you want to have screen pops but thats just me ramblin' now Oh and the someone that told you you could use Avanti phones on a MPD was correct you need SB7 or above and ULD cards for Avanti phones, but you dont need Avanti phones to dial out from your PC.

Oh and I for got if your software is GoldMine it has to be Rel7 because 6 wont connect (voice of experence there). And if the GoldMine and I think ACT is newer software levels it can be set to use SIP to do CTI so no more Tsapi TCPIP.

SSPhone, you hit it on the head. From working with past phone systems, I know some phones have a dataport on them that allow a modem on a computer to dial out on the digital line of the phone. The phone performed the digital to analog transation for the modem. I was wondering if there any phones for the Telrad system that has this functionality. Its hard to find this information out on the internet, as I have been unable to locate a manual for them. I cant belive there is not something that i can place in between the handset and phone base that simply transmits dtmf tones into the receiver.

Sorry I didn't read your question correctly.
No, there is no way to hook something to the handset. You would need to upgrade to what ssphones stated above.
They did make data cards for the digital sets but they don't work with the new windows OS. You need to be at least SB7 or above with Avanti phones.

Found something that may be a lost cost solution. https://www.konexx.com/office_konnector.htm As much as I would LOVE to upgrade to the new versions of cards for the telrad, we just cant afford it right now.

The Telrad Station 20 phones are Digital end to end. What that means is even the handset is digital. This is why you can just take a handset from anyphone and put it on a Telrad station.

OK, hold up, now that does not make any sense. I am using a standard plantronics headset, and it plugs between the base and the handset. This device does the same thing. In testing and trying to figure out a way to do this, I have been playing with a device designed to record telephone conversations using a tape recorder. It goes between the handset and base, and it is working as expected too. If the handset were digital, would the recorder be able to record the conversation?
