Does anyone have instructions on how to get emaGEN 10.2.8 to backup to an FTP Server? The emaGEN system in accessible via our LAN either through t3adm or the Web Controller.

In your t3adm main menu, select #5 for backup. Run the backup and say yes to ftp backup. Answer the responses to send to ftp backup. Once this is set, it will run automatically. If it doesn't go, rerun and correct the parameters until it does. Not totally sure this was in 10.2 but is in 10.3 and 10.4.

We had a former Telrad tech try that, but he said he was not able to get the emaGEN voicemail server to communicate with the FTP server. He mentioned that he thought there was a tech bulletin for our version of emaGEN that had different particular instructions for connecting to an FTP server. Does anyone have these instructions?

My 10.2 manual does not mention the ftp backup. It does mention that you can ftp to the emagen and manually copy the backup folder. An upgrade would certainly help. The older linux software could only go to 10.3.? as far as upgrades go. In 10.3 manual it describes the ftp backup as I previously mentioned. The path must be correct or it will not send the backup. I know I have had to play around with the parameters to get it to go. Password is also needed to send to the ftp server. Run option 5 and see if it will ask you for an ftp backup? If it doesn't then that version will not support the ftp backup.

It doesn't ask for FTP backup when doing Option 5, it just displays...
This will backup you system. Before that it will stop any emaGEN services. Continue [yes/no]?
So I am assuming it is not possible with 10.2.8? I am able to connect to the IP address of the emaGEN system via FTP by doing ftp://Root:tences@"emaGENipaddress" now and see the folder structure and files, but there is nothing that looks like the backup folder. There are the following folders (.grok; .hotjava; .kde; .kde2; .mozilla; .seyon; .skel; .xfm; KDesktop) and a bunch of files. Any idea how to get to where the existing backup would be stored?

Comes back with an FTP Folder Error...
"An error occurred opening the folder on the FTP Server. Make sure you have permission to access this folder.
Details 550/../usr/T3/: No such file or directory"
Any ideas?

Do you have an ftp program like Filezilla? I don't have any 10.2 versions anymore as we have upgraded them all. But if you can use an ftp program to poke around in the directories, you should be able to find the folder named "backup". IE doesn't work very well with finding the different folders. winscp is also another good ftp program.

Going back to option 5, if you say yes to the backup, does it just do the backup or does it offer any other options?

Got access to work with Dreamweaver and Filezilla! Thank you very much for your help. I am assuming that I can just copy all of the contents of the emaGEN backup folder to a network drive and that will suffice for all the data files I need should the system ever need to be restored?
