Just curious if there are any recommendations. I've had verizon and have been happy with the coverage in the US. Recently learned they have dropped roaming plan in part of Mexico so I'm thinking about switching.

Any Pros or Cons with att-cingular that you would like to share?

I have had ATT/Cingular for many years. And I haven't had any bad issues.
I wish they would get their hi-speed internet up and running in this market.

I have been with Cingular for a while. I have been very unhappy with them since AT&T bought them out. The service area diminished where I am at. There were places when traveling the interstate here that you couldn't get a signal. It seems to be getting better after many unhappy customers. I was happier when it was just Cingular. You may not have these issues in the area where you are. I never had these problems with Verizon.

My personal Cingular/AT&T cell service has been trouble free, and have not had to contact anyone at CS about a problem.

On a corporate level.... AT&T for years has been running this scheme were they push more and more of the work onto the customer. It's done under the guise of "now you have more control". Access to a web site that is a joke. My account rep is unreachable, too busy signing up new customers. When I contact CS via a toll free number, it's about 50/50. I have on more than one occasion been bounced around to multiple call centers.

I've had great coverage, but my biggest gripe is the analog interference the phones cause due to the GSM communications. Every analog audio system I'm within 10 ft of picks up the signaling before the phone rings and when it checks with the network for email (I have a blackberry). While on a call, there's nothing wrong, it's just the network signaling.

I had that same interference problem with my BB 7520 through Nextel. Went to a BB 8830 through Verizon and never have problems. Back topic , I am very impressed with Verizon and their high speed internet too. I can use my phone as a tethered modem with my laptop when Im not near any "conventional" network and the speed is just like being plugged in.

I happen to have worked in the same building with Cingular engineers for this region when the merger was starting… Then moved to a LEC where I was seeing the orders for the actions they were taking with some of their capacity…

In most cases no, it seemed they did NOT disconnect any capacity… In some cases on leased towers where BOTH providers had a presence before the merger they did require less once the networks were combined. So there was some pairing back but for the most part they were growing things as well as merging.

From my perspective as a Cingular customer my perception is that the coverage area went from pretty good to even better now with at&t.
