Hi all
First off, I have just bought and installed a second user Tosh DK 280. I am new to this system and am looking forward to being confused by it many times over. I have been well impressed by some of the discussions in this forum and so I have joined up! Hopefully I can be of help to others as well, as I find my way around.
I bought the system from ebay and the manuals from tel-programmer.com. The system is installed and the extension phones distributed no problem.
The system is specified as follows:
RCTUB2A v2(+RRCS1D) x 1 PCOU2F v2 x 3 PDKU2A v3a x 3 PEMU2F x 1 2 x cabinets with PSU's
Programming terminal shows software version of RBEX5E-KEY1.
OK my list of questions:
What is the actual version of my software (v5??) and what does KEY1 mean? Will this system support ISDN (extensions and incomming - the ISDN cards are not listed in my version of the manuals, release 3 and apparently v3.1 or higher is needed)? What is a ferrite core and where does one do with one? Where can I get the DKAdmin and The DKBackup software (er..free if possible)? Can I use the software with a RSIU1A card? Is the software worth the effort (I have heard that it's a bit flaky)? Does anyone want to buy or swap the PEMU and one or two of the PCOU's as they are extraneous to requirements(I am based in the UK but can post anywhere)?
I appreciate anyone who can take the time to answer some of the above questions.
Cheers Rehan

first of all Im impressed considering your a newbie..that you got a 'shiba system installed with no problem..if you were in the Washington, DC area I might consider using you. I am unclear about what you mean when you say programming terminal...The DKADMIN software is OK, but personally I find it easier to use a 20 button phone at Port 05. You wanna be a real pro and pick up the Strategy Voice mail and play around with that. Good Luck. mitch www.GetwiredByMitch.com

Welcome In the manual you got from tel programmer look at program 00 part 1 (page 2-12). It will tell you about the RKSY (key1) and the software of the system.

Thanks groundstart and SSPhone.
Groundstart: Ok when I said 'no problem' I might have been exagerating a bit. There were a couple of things but they got fixed.
I'm still no clearer on the version of software I have. I am informed that to use the ISDN cards I need a minimum of v4.1 software. OK I have release 2 hardware (heh...at least I'm not on the bleeding edge). Do I also have release 2 software? Does this mean that I can't use the ISDN cards? 'cause I went out and bought them! Can I get an upgrade? Is v4.1 the DK424? Is the 5 relevant in the RBEX5E-key1 info?
Lastly where can I get hold of the DK Backup software? (Probably won't need the DK Admin as I am used to programming using the admin phone now).
Sorry about all the questions but finding info on this stuff seems to be nigh on impossible. I'm more used to the 'lots of information but nothing works together world of IP'. Most of the dealers don't really know much either. Probably not asking the right ones!

get the latest release processor you can find. there were quite a few issues with isdn enabled toshiba phone systems. the latest ver. will have all the patches and other fixes. a 20but lcd on 005 is really easy for small changes. what i really like about dkadmin is. you have an up to date record of that systems programming for future use.
