I need help and info about a used DK8 system that we bought to use in our business. It is installed and basically works now. Manual says we must initialize the system. This may be why some features don't seem to work. Not working: Spkr, Intercom, Call Transfer, Page. Working: Lines 1-2-3, Hold, Vol. These are basics. We did not expect advanced features to work yet. I have downloaded all the manuals. They have caused questions we did not know to ask before we bought the system. The first is the issue of initializing the system:
1. Can we run programs 90 and 92-1,2,3,4,5,9 using the 2010SD phone? Manual says 20-button required, but we don't have one. Programs 90 and 92 require buttons 01-04. If the 2010SD buttons map to programming buttons 01-10, then maybe we can at least set defaults.
2. If we can and do run programs 90 and 92 right now will the newly initialized KSU still operate much as it does now, but with more features working? We have already yanked out our analog phones and would have a real problem going back if the DK8 quit working because of running 90 and 92.

The system is DK8 configured for three lines
Strategy 4 Voice Mail (not hooked up yet)
5 each 2010SD phones (10-button + LCD)
Inside KSU: 1 ea. QCDU, 1 ea. QSTU, 1 ea. QCNU. I don't know what a QCNU is.
HPFB6 battery unit. Not installed because we put A/C on UPS.
Manuals from this site.

Thanks in advance,

Dave Davis

initialization will take you to the default
settings(in your manual). you really should use a 2020sd for programming. however, if the present programming(could be default) works for you go for it. your 2010sd will work for a lot of what you might want to change from the present settings.
what features are you looking to gain?

Most basic programming can be done with a 2010SD.

Do program 91-9 and it will clean everything. I am pretty sure this works on DK8, I could be wrong.

The QCNU shows to be a conference interface unit. You will probably need a 20 button set at some point in time. If you default the system only extention 10 on port 00 will ring on incoming calls. Also from a defaulted system you will need a 20 button set to reprogram the system to work with most voice mail systems. I have a DK8 with a QCNU card in my service department that I use for testing. I can default it and tell you what you need to know if you have specific questions.
Good Luck

I should have stated in my post that you will need a 20 button display for any advanced programming, like setting up your voice mail card. The 2010 is okay for absolutely basic set-ups.

Thanks to all of you for your help. It turns out that one of my customers had a spare DK2020-SD that she loaned to me. We got the basic setup working fine now. I am not in the phone programming business, but I am learning fast (but not on purpose).

Thanks again!

Dave

P.S. Now I have another issue with the Strategy 4 voicemail system--I will post that separately.
