Hi,
I have a drs office using a DK40. Recently they started getting disconnected mid conversation. This happens on 98% of all calls (In and out). It varies as far as how long you can talk before getting disconnected. I have had a tech look at programming and he says we are fine. He claims its the Telco (Verizon) not sending disconnect tone. I have opend 3 tickets with Telco. I am not fluent with Toshiba, but if anyone has an idea Im willing to try. I dont think its my switch as everything else is fine. Has anyone else seen this?
Thanks,
Dan

Is this happening on all phones or just one or two? Is it happening on all the trunks or just one?

All Phones, all lines.

Thanks,
Dan

it might be a hookswitch toshiba phones have a really bad problem with that. try changing it out on a couple of phones and see if that clears the problem.

is it coming on the first 4 lines????
If so it could be the main board....(very unlikely)

if it is coming on lines 5 and up try swaping out the tcou....

i doubt its the hookswitches on all phones although if they were fromthe same dreaded lot...indeed it could be...

My guess is the Hookswitches and yes it maybe on every phone.
Look for this if the disconnect happens and the line key light goes out its the hookswith if you get a error tone and the disply says CO Line Disconnect its the outside line. But myguess is the hookswitch. Box a couple up and send them to Paul for repair. He will get them repaired and shipped right back.

Thank you for the vote of confidence. I would love the business, BUT I have to say that this does not sound like a hookswitch issue to me. "Hookswitch" drops tend to happen most frequently when calls are either placed on hold or transferred.
1) If the calls are just getting "dropped" and it happens in the middle of a conversation without the caller being placed on hold or transferred.
2) It is occurring on all lines and all stations.
I would strongly suspect either the telco or the CO board.
Unless!!! (and this is easy to check) the serial numbers are sequential (or very close to sequential) on all of the telephones.
If the serial numbers are close, it is possible that they all cme from the same lot, and the hookswitches may indeed be the culprit.
If you have some extra phones that are not from the same batch, you could try plugging in a couple and seeing if the trouble persists.
I would check the CO board first, then the telco. Then the hookswitches.

Thanks for all the responses.
I have telco looking at it, but you all know how that goes.
I hear faint static just before the call gets cut off.
My next questions is, whats the CO board?
Feel free to laugh, Im still wet behind the ears in this field.
Thanks,
Dan

The CO card is the TCOU card. It is where your incoming lines go into the system. It is quite easy to swap it out if you have a replacement. I would recommend trying that first...
You could eliminate the TCOU as the culprit by connecting a butt set or single line phone ahead of the system and see if you get cut off...
If you do get cut off,it is clearly the telco. If not, try a s/l phone or butt set into the power failure port. If you get cut off there, but not from the line into the building in front of your system, then you have a bad TCOU card...
There is a slight chance that the main board is bad as well, but I doubt it.
My best guess is that, if you get cut off on a phone before the KSU, then it is the telc, after the KSU, it is probably your TCOU card.

I would double check Disconnect supervision. If it is on then turn it off. (I forget if you can adjust the timer)

Disconnect supervision whatches the line for an open loop for Xmsec. If telco is having trouble on the line(s) then any open that is long enough will trick the phone system into thinking it was hung up on. With the static, that indicates the open being generated.

Hope that helps.
