Hi folks,

I was hired by my company as a PC support specialist, but have since discovered that apparantly anything that has electricity running to it (and some purely mechanical devices as well) which might have problems fall under my domain. At any rate, I have inherited the maintenance of our outdated phone system (that they inherited from another location and was set up hastily probably) which is a Perception EX with Stratagy24 Voicemail system and EKT phones. I have one very large, very technical manual which seems to be geared towards installation of the system and has some information about phone features that doesn't help a whole lot. I am not opposed to reading this if necessary but skimming through it I could not find the need info. Needless to say - I AM LOST.

The problems I am having are very basic and I was hoping maybe someone would have time to either help me or point me in the right direction. I get the feeling that the company expects me to solve these problems without spending any money but If I have to talk them into spending some then ok - I just hope I don't end up paying tons to solve simple problems. Here's the deal:

We have problems like this: they have never known how to (or been able to possibly) forward a call directly to someones voicemail. I have looked on-line and can't find an answer but this should be simple I would imagine. I did find info that I thought would work but it requires using codes the text assumed the reader would know. I am not sure what the voicemail access code is (unless it's the same code we use to retrieve voicemail which is the main greeting then *EXT) and apparantly no one here is either. What a mess. I also was able to get a manual from a local communications company that had SOME valid information in it but required use of buttons that I don't have on my phones. The system seemed the same, but for instance I don't have a CFD button on my phones or it's not been labled. And my MSG button works, but when I try to use features described in the manual with this button, I get bad results. Is there anyway to find good documentation - or anyone who would be available for a short question and answer session regarding this system? Please help... I would be much obliged.

Forward direct to a mailbox isnt just 1 key stroke even with the DK product line. That has been changed in the CTX I think. But this can be done with the Stratagy. Mailbox 998 is the Directed box. So if you dial into voicemail main ext wait for answer dial 998#XXX# XXX= the ext number you will forward diract to the mailbox. We usually set a single digit route 2 to 998 so the dial string is VM 2#XXX#. SO if you want to get into the mailbox programming go to 990 and 991 and set the digit 2 for mailbox 998 and you can shorten the key strokes.

Thanks! That does work ... the only problem is it worked for the first phone I tried it on (and still does) but other phones don't go directly to voicemail. Is there a feature I need to turn off/on for these phones? Example: if I transfer to ext 213 - it rings there. if I transfer to 998#213# it goes directly to VM. But... if I transfer to ext 211 it rings or if transfer to 998#211# it rings either way. Not sure what's up. Oh well ... half way there! thanks for your help again.

In testing it appears that half of the extensions work (you can send a caller directly to VM) and the other half don't. Still trying to figure it out.

Well, I've been playing around with it some more and it appears that the 998#EXT# thing works with phones that have no dial string (set so that they cannot be dialed to directly from the greeting), but does not work with phones which have thier extension entered into the dial string. Still not sure how to fix it so it works for all though - i do need many of our extensions to be accessible from the greeting.

Sounds like you need to create mailboxes for those extensions. If there is no mailbox set up, you cannot dial an extension from the auto attendant. Try that.

The Stratagy is a analog voicemail so you need to wait for the 998 to answer so you can transfer the # tells the Stratagy that you are done dialing but pause for a sec, the prompt will be: enter the destination user ID finish by pressing pound, then dial the ext. If noone a screwed with the mailbox it will transfer.
I posted this here for the others reference
