I just bought a DK40i with a 4 port Flash to use at my office. Can not get the Flash to come up. Connected to the serial port and watched the boot process. The point at which it blows up is in the autoexec.bat when it tries to execute this line:
@if exist C:\RCPT\START.BAT goto nor

This is what it does:
CRC error reading drive C
Abort, Retry, Fail?

The RCPT directory is corrupt. I can cd to it but if I try to list it I get the same CRC error.

Here is a DIR of the "C drive":
COMMAND COM 28,885 09-26-1999 4:30a
AUTOEXEC BAT 2,725 06-27-2000 11:52a
DIALOGIC <DIR> 09-17-2001 1:55p
DIALOGIC <DIR> 09-17-2001 1:55p
RCPT <DIR> 09-17-2001 1:55p
ROMDOS <DIR> 09-17-2001 1:55p
SPCH <DIR> 09-17-2001 1:55p
UTIL <DIR> 09-17-2001 1:55p
AUDIO <DIR> 09-17-2001 1:55p
BOOT LOG 2,590 03-03-2005 6:38p
BRICK-C CMP 47,744 12-13-2000 9:07a
CONFIG SYS 186 05-26-2000 2:22p
START LOG 25,015 02-24-2005 3:46p
12 file(s) 107,145 bytes
2,568,192 bytes free

Ok, SSPHONE looked at two units and his do not have that directory. Would someone else be open to taking a look to see if you have a flash that has the RCPT directory. And if so can I get a copy of the directory and it's contents?

Thanks,
Robert

Sounds like the compact flash card is corrupted. Try running chkdsk /f to see if that fixes the problem. If not, try reformatting the card and reinstall the software. If that doesn't do it, replace the card.

The compact flash is corrupt. Looks like the first file in the RCPT directory is bad. I can change into the directory but cannot do dir.

Where do I get the software to put back on the FLASH? I have a larger compact flash to put in it and I have the procedure for doing that. I don't mind at all defaulting the thing as we are starting over anyway.

Did the chkdsk and it reported the first cluster was bad. It truncated the directory. Here is what I get when I do a dir on it now
(I hope this page
formats ok):
C:\RCPT>dir /p

Volume in drive C has no label
Volume Serial Number is 1278-1405
Directory of C:\RCPT

I have been working with SSPhone on this. We looked in both Flash units we have and do not show any RCPT directory. I think yoou are dusted.

Do the files I just posted look familiar? Maybe they live in another directory?

Can I get a copy of another 4 port flash's compact flash and try that? There must be something I can do...

Voyager, you and SSPHONE not being able to find the RCPT directory on the "C" drive brings me to another question...

The Flash is a DIALOGIC VOICEBRICK or atleast a modified(software) version thereof. The unit I have is atleast a VOICEBRICK and the label on the left front of the case has been peeled off. I wonder if it is possible that it is not a Stratagy FLASH and just a straight VOICEBRICK? Is there a difference?

I am trying to understand the situation, I have a DK40i with a voicemail that was integrated into it. Previous owner indicates it was working when disconnected in Nov. 2004. I receive it and can't get the voice mail to come up and two knowledgable folks can not find the same directory on units they have checked?????

I've seen voicemails and other devices that look identical to the Stratagy Flash but use different software. I know Comdial makes one. See if you can find any name on it other than Dialogic or Intel.

Well, no stickers or tags to identify it. In C:\RCPT there is a file named TOSH16.GTX. It has parameters in it but it also contains this:

// TOSHIBA.GTX 23-Nov-97
// modified for Toshiba DK16 10/2/00 JLG
// dialtone from dual tone (DT) to single tone (ST)

This is the only manufacture specific reference I can find...
