I'm trying to get the SoftIPT software to work.
I got the SoftIPT software up and running. It connects and I’m able to see the name, date, and time.
However, I get no sound when trying to make or receive a call. I can make a call but I can't hear the other person and they can't hear me.
Am I suppose to hear a dial tone when I hit the call button?
Thanks in advance.

I hope you programmed the buttons in the CTX as well as on the soft IPT the same. What is your Soft IPT display show you when you hit the call button? Also not all laptops are the same, some work with this application and some don't, I haven't had a failure yet! Make sure that your headset is working correctly, you only have the one audio source and DON'T try to use a built in speaker & Mic setup...it doesn't work well at all. And a big also....> the soft IPT takes a license for it different than the station license.

If you have the display on the soft-IP, then licensing is not an issue. Set up a hard IP phone and make sure that it works. If it does then I would go with what Telephonyman said about your laptop. Some headsets just aren't going to work. If you have the same issue with the hard IP phone, then theres something else going on. ------------------ fingerlakestelecom.net

A regular hard IP phone works fine.
I haven't gotten as far as trying a headset. I'm just trying to dial and extension and hear a "hello". The calls go through, I just don't get any sound.
I'm not sure what you mean by programming the buttons.
Do I have to specify this is a SoftIPT phone instead of a regular IP phone in WinAdmin?

No special programming. The buttons will take on the assignment for that extension. Get a good headset for your laptop ane try that. Mine works great! Dan ------------------ fingerlakestelecom.net

Check any software firewall you might have, it's probably blocking some ports. Also, not all computers have full duplex audio.

Could also be that the BIPU is using NAT routing and is assigned a private IP address. Are you using VPN when connecting with the SoftIP?

The BIPU has a public IP. We have 6 remotes that are using hard IP phones which have been working great.
I'm going to install the software on a different notebook and see what happens.
