I'm looking for a solution to a customer request. The request is to have a cellular access to a pbx. In other words the ability to call from a cell phone to a cellular device attached to an analog port for access to the system while using a minute-to-minute plan on the particular cell carrier.
Something similar to putting a SIM card in a land line phone.
Anything out there that does that?

Haha, it's kinda' funny, I've seen these things at remote sites and as backups for alarms and other equipment all over the stinking place. I just never thought of them as connecting to a switch and it make total sense. I was blind but now I see.
So, how do you order service for these things? Do all cell carriers work with them?
And kind of a side note, does Samsung have a buisness phone that accepts a sim card for cell service?

I have used a CELL SOCKET from WHP Wireless for YEARS.
It is connected to LINE PORT 3 on my MAGIX SYSTEM.
I first bought one for my (Now antique) Nokia 6190. It's main use at that time was to allow us to make FREE LONG DISTANCE Calls over my cell phone, from any phone on my MAGIX System.
I still use that phone for the connectivity to the Cell Socket. However, after several years, my original Cell Socket unit died.
So, I purchased a replacement, a newer model actually, and I could NOT BE HAPPIER.
This thing recognizes SWITCH HOOK Flash when I have a call waiting, and it delivers both CALLER ID NAME and NUMBER on incoming calls.
I know they make units for other Cell Phones besides my Nokia, but you would just have to do some research.
I can't say enough good things about mine, I just wonder why more folks didn't catch on to these things.
RULE NUMBER 2, "THINKIN' WON'T GET IT, YOU GOTTA KNOW!" RULE NUMBER 3, if you need TIER-3 SUPPORT on a LEGEND or MAGIX, go to http://home.comcast.net/~merlinman -
