Hey guys, I'm brand new to this site & I have a real basic question. I was in my accountants office the other day & noticed he has a DK424. He said he wished he could have a distinctive ring to differentiate his calls from the business he shares a receptionist with. I told him that this was a basic feature available with all systems as far as I know. He said that his installer told him the feature was not available and all lines would continue to ring the same.
I'm not at all familiar with Toshiba programming - my background is with Panasonic digital & Avaya Partner systems. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Set them up using Phantoms and have them labeled and appear on different keys then the regular lines.

I'm pretty sure Toshiba only offers 'distinctive STATION ringing'-(prog. 80)(& 10-2 if more than two ringtones are needed)...I know this to be the case with the DK56 & DK280..I could be wrong and maybe the 424 or his software version on the 424 allows it..hopefully some Toshiba expert will chime in.

..so as far as the receptionist/call transfer setup goes.. this would be of no help..
Have her use a highlighter marker on the desi's! : )

On the DK, distinctive ringing applies to the PDN only and not the trunk appearances. You cannot assign different ring tones on a trunk-by-trunk basis. For example, if the customer has line 1 for business A and line 5 for business B, he cannot have line 1 ring with a different tone than line 5. If both lines ring on his phone, they will ring with the same ring tone. Use program 80 to assign distinctive ringing.

Phonemeister...that's what I said...'distinctive STATION ringing'is available...not distinctive CO/TRUNK ringing
