I have a 424 in a business ,half office
and 7 phones in warehouse /store on counters.

they came from 2 stores to a warehouse enviornment.

So now there is this counter with 7 guys taking orders and selling parts in an open 16 foot whouse /no air /doors open to busy street/ and floor standing fans next to them

they cant hear and customers cant hear them

I had custom v/c handsets with push to mute
buttons made. vol on system set @4 no better,

just put on an n/c headset and now they can be heard and hear .
but the headset has a low ,like ac hum only in the ear on my end not heard by customer.

Any ideas on hum ? or ideas for this enviornmental nightmare.

"They have fans next to them" would be where I would start. They make be getting some interference from the electric motors. Try having them shut down the electrical devices around them one by one and see if you can get it to go away. I know that I have an electric paper folder on my desk that wreaks havoc with my talk path if I use it when I am on the phone.

You might check the batteries in the headset base. I have had a similar problem using the batteries included with the base being low and putting in fresh batteries fixed it.
