We have a Toshiba DK424 system. We currently have a Frac T-1 supporting 15 lines with DID service.
Can we add Caller ID service to these line to display on the DK-2020SD phone sets or do I need to add cards, services, or change the way the line comes into the building. This T-1 also supports our Internet service. I was told years (6+) ago that we would need to us an ISDN PRI line to do this and back then it was to expensive of an item for Management to jump on.
Thanks!

Is your fractional T-1 doing a drop and isert or does it go into your system and connect to a T-1 card?

The line is split by the telco into a ethernet port and a T-1. The T-1 is plugged into the RDTU1.

Thanks

My understanding is that you will need to upgrade to ISDN PRI circuit. Caller ID will not pass through a RDTU T-1 card

Hey Y'all
Ok. the company has agreed to look further into converting our T-1 lines to ISDN PRI. What gotchas do i need to know about doing the upgrade?
Stuff like, Version xyz of the CPU is required to support Caller ID, Purchase of PRI interface cards, Etc.

Thanks for the assist to All!

To go to a PRI, your processor needs to be at software level 4.3 or higher. You can upgrade if it isn't by adding a chip to the processor. The chips are available through Toshiba, but they are limited in quantity. Are you using an RCTU processor or a CTU processor in the DK 424? Reason I ask is there is no more support on the RCTU processors effective 9/30/04 and the CTU processors were manufacture discontinued 10/1/04. THE CTU processors are still supported. Anotehr FYI is the DK 424 was manufacture discontined (cabinets) in June of 2000.

Would upgrading to a CTX/CIX be a possibility? They can re-use all phones and cards. All they would need to upgrade is the processor and cabinets.

Just a thought!

Oh yeah....you will need to go to an RPTU with the appropriate cable kit for a PRI. Some other things to keep in mind:

* The slot next to the RPTU will need to be blank as with the RDTU
* Caller ID is included on PRI card

If you have any questions..send me an e-mail!!
